The tumblers took the floor this weekend at Futures Gymnastics in Mississauga. The competition was beyond good and left us wanting even more from these superstars! All in all, they earned 8 medals, including 3 Gold and we had 12 provincial athletes achieve their qualifying standard for Ontario Championships! Here is an overview of the event.
Provincial Highlights:
Our Provincial team was rock solid! Jordan Rogers, Madison Clinch, Katie Davy, Avery Reid, Bianca Devcic,Ethan Hawkins, Nicole Lauff, Alexandra Wowk, Claudia Bartoszek, Sydnee Laurent, Jamie Elliott and Joseph Bielski earned their Provincial qualifying score!
Joseph and Chloe Bottos competed their dbl back tuck for the first time! Chloe earned the highest score in her category for hers.
Ahren Mahler nailed his prelims and earned the mobility score he needed to transition out of the Provincial Program. He will now represent the BG's and Gymnastics Ontario as a National tumbler!
National Highlights:
Jordan Sugrim was definitely the buzz of the competition. In her first competition since November 2009, she earned an average score of 9.0 on her 4 passes. She competed her signature full full straight, the skill that she became the first Canadian to successfully land back in 2009.
BG's were dominant in the high performance women's categories placing 1-2-4-7-8 in Junior and sweeping the podium in Senior which was a simple feat since we are the only club who has senior women in the country!
David Findlay, Rebecca Zachar, Hayley Lisko, Devon Haimes and Aja Zambiasi set new personal difficulty records for themselves.
Jon Schwaiger dominated the men's meet in his first appearance as a BG. He also earned the highest score of any pass in the entire competition on his first finals with a 35.9!
