The BG's T&T Team was a dominant force at this weeks National Championships! Earning a new program record of 5 National titles, the team brought home 12 medals in total and impressive amount of top 10 finishes.
In tumbling, we had athletes entered in 6 of the 8 categories and walked away with 4 titles!
Here is more on how we did.
Medalists:
Ahren Mahler - in his first Canadian Championships, Ahren helped Team Ontario secure team Silver and the following day made the jump from 3rd to 1st to win his first National title in the men's National 16 & under category.
Denis Vachon - helped Team Ontario place 3rd in the DMT event. Denis also won his 4th DMT Senior national title posting the highest scores and difficulties on Day 1 and 2.
Emily Smith - helped Team Ontario keep their undefeated streak in the TUM team final. She also won her 7th Senior title in dominating fashion. Her first title was earned exactly 10 years ago in Saskatoon when she was just 16!
Jaclyn Sicard - helped Team Ontario dominate the TUM Team final. Having placed 2nd 3-times in the Junior division in the past, Jaclyn pulled out all the stops to earn her first National title!
Jon Schwaiger - helped Team Ontario secure tumbling Silver! In individual competition, he dominated the Tumbling final winning by 7 pts for his 2nd consecutive senior title! He also pulled out huge finals passes on DMT to jump from 5th to 2nd in the men;s senior category!
Katelyn Verschoor - former World Age Group Champion came 2nd in the senior competition to BG's own Emily Smtih.
Jordyn Miller-Burko - led Team Ontario to Bronze in the DMT Team event! She nailed individual finals to jump from 4th to 3rd in the senior category!
Anisa Pacheco - in her final appearance at the National Championships, Anisa was selected for the Team DMT final and nailed a great pass to help Ontario place 3rd!
Naomi Suzuki - helped Emily and Jaclyn earn Team Ontario the tumbling Gold medal! This victory makes them undefeated in this competitions history!

2013 Easterns Championships
Our trip to Newfoundland was filled with some amazing moments both in and out of the gym. Our 5 athletes delivered amazing performances and over exceeded their coaches expectations. It was the first time each of these athletes competed for Team Ontario and travelled to the Eastern provinces for a gymnastics event.
Alexandra Wowk:
Alex competed in the Level 3 tumbling category and hit her passes placing 13th in the group.
Ethan Hawkins:
Ethan won the Level 1 13+ tumbling category! He is the first male tumbler to win an Eastern title in the BG's tumbling program and did it in a convincing manner earning a score 5 pts higher than the silver medalist.
Mathew Hamilton:
Mathew had a very successful championships placing 9th in Level 2 Trampoline as well as 8th in level 2 double-mini. The highlight though has to be the Gold medal he received for his contribution to the Ontario Level 2 double-mini team. They edged out Quebec and Nova Scotia for 1st place!
Sydnee Laurent:
Sydnee had a great meet nailing her 4 passes on double-mini for 9th place. She also helped Team Ontario earn the Gold medal in Level 1 double-mini!
Joseph Bielski:
Joseph was extremely busy, competing 4 times during the 2 day competition. He placed 4th in Level 4 tumbling and 9th in Level 3 double-mini. On top of that, he helped the double-mini team place 2nd to Quebec.

Our national athletes really impressed at the Elite Canada competition in Quebec City earlier this month. They earned 4 medals and took 7 spots in the finals.
