Athletes of the month - May
Our athletes of the month of May all have 1 thing in common. They all returned home from the 2009 Eastern Canadian Championships with a Gold Medal around their necks and ready for bigger and better things!
Tumbling: Naomi Suzuki
Naomi had a phenomenal season this year which concluded with an Eastern Canadian Title in Provincial B Women's Tumbling! Her personal best technical performance is what gave her the edge in the competition: she showed great speed, execution and of course stuck landings! Oh, did I forget mention she was the youngest and smallest in her category?! Since returning from the meet, she has learned Provincial A passes as well as the ever exciting double back tuck! Congratulations on a great month of May!
Double Mini Trampoline: Ken Robertson
Ken started the month of May off in style with a win in the Provincial A men's dmt competition at the Eastern Canadian Championships. It was his first time competing 2 of his 4 passes and did them extremely well to edge out another B.G. athlete for the title. His preliminary passes also counted towards Gymnastics Ontario's Team Gold! Since the win, he seems to have a new found confidence and determination for being a National Athlete come July. Great Job!
Trampoline: Ian Phillips
After placing 2nd in the Provincial A preliminary competition, Ian knew he needed a great optional to move ahead and take the title. He delivered just that! Completing the most difficult set of the meet with amazing height and execution, Ian scored the highest optional total of the men's meet and ran away with the gold. He also helped Gymnastics Ontario to the Team Gold in that category. Now he has his sights set on making a splash on the National scene! Good Luck Ian! We know you can do it!
Jack of all trades: Josh Haibach
Josh paired up with another Ontario athlete to win the Provincial A syncro trampoline title. If that isn't impressive enough, this was after placing 8th in the men's tumbling category, 2nd in the men's Provincial A DMT category and 6th in the Provincial A TRI category. His scores in both Tramp and DMT counted towards the Team Ontario victory. He was the only athlete to compete in all disciplines and did it without making any mistakes! This streak of hit performances meant Josh was leaving Easterns with 3 Gold's and 1 Silver medal! An impressive feat for an 11 year old! Congratulations!

Schedule for this weekend
Hi Everyone!
As you all know, this weekend Hamilton will be playing host to the 2009 Canadian Trampoline, Tumbling and Gymnastics Championships. Our T&T program has 20 athletes qualified to participate in the event! This great accomplishment means the coaching staff will be spending their weekend coaching at the Championships and classes will not be running.
Since Nationals switches provinces every season, we want everyone to take the opportunity to come and enjoy the high level of competition our athletes will be displaying! It's a great chance for the kids to see what's next on the table for them and what the other provinces are like in terms of development. I hope we will see all of you there! Below you will find the schedule changes as well as good viewing times for nationals!
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Summer Holidays and Testing!
To: Tumbling Families
Re: Summer Shutdown
As you all know, we have 2 weeks of mandatory summer shutdown every season. This year we have made our shut down schedule revolve around a very important National Level competition: Canada Cup! This meet is the final selection event for World Championships and World Age Groups.
The gym will be closed from:
Week 1 - Sunday, June 21 to Sunday, June 28th
Week 2 - Sunday, August 2nd to Sunday, August 9th
The summer schedule will be handed to you in the next few days and will commence on Monday, June 29th.
If your child will be away any other weeks throughout the summer please let us know so we can adjust our lesson plans accordingly. Please keep in mind that summer training does highly influence what competitive category your child pursues next season as well as group selection.
The testing that will be held in mid July (13th-17th) will be used to help finalise fall schedule which will be officially released upon return of the 2nd week of shut down. Athletes will be tested on skill and physical abilities to help determine their path into the 2009-2010 season. There are no guaranteed spots in the program, all athletes must be tested in order to be eligible for Fall admission.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
