2009 End of Season Awards
2009 was a great season for the Burlington B.G.'s Tumbling Program. We earned a lot of hardware, set a lot of new records and achieved many new personal best!
The coaching staff sat down at the end of August and decided to implement some year end recognition awards. Categories were decided and their definitions were created. Here are the results.

He was always the most disciplined, focused and hard working athlete in the gym, using everyday as an opportunity to inch his way closer to achieving his goals. A role model athlete! This title is awarded to the athlete who best embodies Chris' athletic persona:
David Findlay - David came to 99% of the workouts and was usually the one seen working till the very end. He always brought the highest level effort, focus and discipline he was capable of and in turn earned himself a spot on the Canadian Junior National Team. A goal he had been chipping away at for 3 seasons.
The Emily Smith Award:
Emily is a Burlington B.G. who became the most decorated tumbler in Canadian History. She opened the international doors for other Canadians by earning our first 5 World Cup Medals and raising the difficulty/competitive standards in the country for over half a decade. This title is awarded to an athlete who best embodies Emily's trendsetting nature by pushing to achieve new milestones in their career and sport:
Jordan Sugrim - This season Jordan become the first Canadian women to compete a double twisting double layout! A skill performed by only the Worlds very best. She performed the skill with near flawless execution to win her first ever Senior National title.
A special mention must also go out to Emily Smith herself who set two new Canadian records this season. In July she became the 1st Canadian to win a medal at the World Games (the Olympics for non-Olympic Sports) with a brilliant performance. Then in early September she won the preliminary competition at the World Cup in Poland, a feat no other Canadian male or female has ever achieved.
