With the competitive season just around the corner, I thought this would be a good time to remind everyone of the expectations we have of our Burlington B.G. athletes in order to remain eligible for competitions. These rules were attached to your Fall package (the one stating training hours) which I handed to you in our 1 on 1 meetings in the summer.
1 - Athlete's must attend a minimum of 85% of training sessions. This helps ensure that we only have athletes who are dedicated and committed representing the club.
2 - Athlete's must pass the physical testing throughout the year. A certain level of fitness needs to be demanded in order to ensure athlete's are strong enough to handle skill loads and routine demands.
3- Athlete's must be able to successfully complete full planned routines/passes in club mock meets with a level of quality the coaches believe is acceptable. If you can't complete routines in our gym, how can we believe they can be hit elsewhere.
The most important reason we have these rules is athlete safety. If your child is not coming to training, they are most likely not getting enough exercise, they are not getting enough element practice, they are not completing enough routines, then they aren't ready for the competitive experience. I also do not want to support or encourage poor work ethic and lack of effort. The last thing I want to see is an injury to an athlete that clearly had not put in the required effort to be ready for competition.
If your child is deemed ineligible for any of the above stated reasons you will be made aware approximately 2 weeks before the meet. Depending on the circumstance, a warning may be issued first to try to give the benefit of the doubt, if no change is seen then the athlete will be scratched.
Competitions are not a right, they are a privilege. Please note that poor sportsmanship or behavioral issues are also reason enough to be pulled from a competition, also these decisions are not debatable.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
The Burlington B.G.'s trampoline and tumbling program is dedicated to helping each athlete reach their maximum performance level by teaching discipline, work ethic and focus through positive teaching methods. Regardless of competition level, we hope to instill a sense of accomplishment, success and confidence into every athlete our program touches!

Pan American Championships - Update
I would like to announce that Teja Durante will not be the only B.G. representing Canada at the upcoming Pan Ams! Catherine McNutt was also selected to join and be part of Team Canada at what will be only the 3rd Pan Am's for the Trampoline and Tumbling community! Congratulations to both girls! We know they will compete well and have a great experience!

October 2008 - Athletes of the month
Tumbling: Michelle Hefford
Michelle had a very steep learning curve through the end of September and October! She learned 2 new passes that have helped her bridge the gap from Provincial A to Novice National! Not only has she increased her difficulty, but she has also improved upon how she performs her skills, a task that is not easy! She carries herself with a lot more confidence and it is shinning through in her tumbling. Congratulations Michelle! Your on the right path!
Trampoline: Ian Phillips
Ian is one of the clubs most successful trampolinist. He is known for his clean lines, consistent competitive performances and pretty soon you may get to add his difficulty to that list. He has made a lot of progress this month with important and tricky skills such as a dbl back and fliffis! Most noteworthy though is his new found confidence and aggressiveness in training. No longer a fearful athlete, Ian seems to have set a personal goal and will do everything in his power to make sure it is accomplished! Great Job!
Double Mini Trampoline: Anisa Pacheco
Anisa is in her 2nd year of dmt at the club. Last season she competed in Provincial B and did a respectable job representing the club. This year, she is a girl on a mission, and that mission seems to be competing at the National Level. In October she added many skills to her repertoire such as dbl back dismount and rudy mount. She has learned new passes that she hopes can carry her into the Novice category with positive results! Way to go!
