Provincial Tumbling Training Camp
Gymnastics Ontario has organised a training camp for Provincial Tumbling on the weekend of November 1-2, 2008. The camp will be held at our club and that means we are allowed to send up to 9 athletes for the cost of 5.
Camps are a great opportunity for athletes to work with other coaches from across the province as well as interact with athlete's from other clubs. The emphasis is on perfecting old skills and also getting to work on new ones.
Since I can't offer for everyone to attend and I didn't want to simply pick people to attend, I have decided to do is use the ranking list from this summers testing to offer out the spots to the top 9. Should any of them say no, then I will move down the list until we have used all of our spots.
The cost for the camp will be $56.00 and that includes the 3 training sessions, dinner on Saturday, as well as lunch on Sunday and snacks throughout the entire weekend.
Please check your email for an invitation and be ready to reply whether you will be accepting or not.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

World Cup Final Bronze Medalist
Another performance for the record books! Emily competed yesterday in the 2008 World Cup Final with a performance worthy of a Bronze medal. Only the top 8 ranked athletes on the FIG World Ranking list are invited to participate in this event. This was Canada's first tumbling medal at a World Cup Final and marked Emily's 13th consecutive top 8 finish on the World Cup circuit. Quite the accomplishment!
Competition concludes today with Men's Tumbling and Women's trampoline. Rosie Maclennan will be Canada's lone representative in today's competition.
Way to go Emily, knew you could do it!

August Athlete of the month: David Findlay
Name: David Findlay
Age: 16
Level: Youth National
David spent the entire month of May and the beginning on June in a boot cast for ligament tears he suffered the day after Provincial Championships. Even though he only missed one training throughout the entire healing process, he still had to spend the remainder of June relearning his basics and regaining any strength or flexibility he had lost.
He came into July/August with a clean slate (and bill of health) and a very confident, committed and driven attitude to not only get back to where he was, but get better. And that is exactly what he did. He finished the summer with 2 brand new passes and a hand full of new skills that have set him up for what should be his most successful season yet. He has proven that as long as your willing to work hard and stay focused and committed to your goals you can comeback from just about anything!
Congratulations David on a great couple months!
