Evian World Cup

Last week B.G.'s own Emily Smith was in Evian, France representing Team Canada at the Evian World Cup for Trampoline and Tumbling.

She placed 6th in a very strong final which included the top 3 women from the most recent World Championships! In finals, Emily competed a new tumbling pass that helped her set a New Canadian Women's Difficulty Record!

This top 8 finish has also guaranteed Emily a spot in this fall's World Cup Final in Togliati, Russia. Only the top 8 ranked athletes on the World Ranking List are invited to attend this competition!

Congratulations Emily!

Summer Schedule

Hi Everyone!

I attempted to upload the Summer Schedule this evening. However, I am not that computer savy and was unable to format it properly. Your schedule will be distributed to your child over the next couple days via Chris, Nick or Andree.

Please note that some minor changes have been made to the Provincial groups to allow for more specific skill development and to ensure we are helping the families that carpool. The National groups saw minimal to no changes due to the fact that Canada Cup is in the middle of the summer season.

Also, please remember that the mandatory 2 week shut down is being divided into 2 parts this summer. We will be taking a week and a half off following Canada Cup (July 23 to August 3) and then another long weekend from August 28-September 2nd.

Have a terrific week! I will update you all on Emily's performance!

Retro-Summer Tumbling Invitational

The information regarding the 3rd annual Retro-Summer Power Tumbling Invitational is now posted on the Gymnastics Ontario website. This competition is hosted by the Scarborough Gym Elites and has proven to be a great competition for all to attend!

In past years, we used this meet to tryout new levels, skills and passes for all of our provincial and interclub athletes! I strongly suggest you have your child participate in this awesome event!

Conpetition date is Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the Scarborough Gym (directions to come at a later date) and the cost is $30 per athlete. Please send me an email or speak to me in person at the gym to let me know whether or not your child is planning on participating. There will be no provincial classes offered on this day at our facility.

We have been working very hard in the gym trying to prepare new passes for all our provincial athletes so that they can feel prepared while attending this fun meet!

Let's as a club take advantage of this great opportunity and participate to our fullest in hopes of encouraging the club to keep on hosting these meets!

All Provincial athlete's are welcome and encouraged to go!

Eastern Canadian Championships - Finals

The 2008 Eastern Canadian Championships concluded today in Longueil, Quebec!

Michelle Hefford started the B.G.'s tumblers day off very well with her highest scoring finals pass of the competitive season. The great quality with which she competed help guarantee her 7th place finish! Great Job Michelle!

The boys flight was just as impressive! Josh Haibach maintained his 7th place finish with a very dynamic pass! Michael Zeuner competed a brand new pass which included a whip back and a layout 1/2 with great success and finished 6th! Job well done boys!

Overall it was a great competition for our tumblers! They were great representatives of our club and province! The coaching staff is very proud of their accomplishments.
