Summer Vacation

The summer schedule is slowly getting finalized! I am hoping to have it completed and sent out by May 1st. But since we have already decided on the 2 weeks of vacation, I figured I'd give all the families a heads up so that you could better organise your summer. The program will be shut for a week and a half from Wednesday, July 23 till Sunday, August 3rd. The last part of the mandatory 2 week shut down will be from Thursday, August 28 to Tuesday, September 2nd. Giving you an extended labor day weekend! The fall schedule will commence on Wednesday, September 3rd.

Elite Canada

To: all Youth and Elite families
Re: Elite Canada

The registration information for Elite Canada is finally available. The competition is being held in Kamloops, British Columbia. The competition serves as a qualifier for the Youth and Senior National Team. We are planning on leaving the morning of Thursday, April 17th from Pearson International Airport and flying into Kelowna. We will return on Sunday, April 20th. The gym will book hotel rooms/rental cars for the athletes to ensure we can easily maneuver around the city. Each family will be responsible for booking their own flights. If you chose to have your child travel and stay with you please make us aware. We will definately do our best to keep costs down. Here is the cost break down so far.

Flight: $520.00
Hotel: $100.00
Car: $100.00
Meals: $ 30.00/day = $90.00
Total: $810.00

We need to know whether or not your child will be attending by Sunday so that we can chose a flight Monday morning and give out all the booking information.

I also want to add that we have been given permission to run a fundraiser to help lower the cost. We are looking into which one will be the most successful and will give you the details when it is finalised.

Feel free to email me any questions.
Thank you!

Denis

World Cup Poland!

Emily Smith represented Canada as well as the club this past weekend at World Cup event held in Wroclaw, Poland. Here is a summary of what took place.

Prelims:
Emily nailed 2 solid passes scoring a 63.0 and put herself in a tie for 4th place with Sarah Turner from Great Britain.

Finals:
In the finals, Emily started it off with a brand new pass that set the New Canadian Record for highest difficulty in a single pass as well as a new personal best for highest scoring pass. She competed a full twisting double layout to a full twisting double pike for a total of 33.6 points. It also made her 1 of only 3 women to compete a pass worth more then 8 pts in difficulty. She then hit a solid 2nd pass to finish with a total of 65.00 and 6th place. The final was quoted as stronger then the one at the World Championships a few months ago.

Congratulations Emily on your newest milestone!

Ontario Winter Games

Three of our B.G.'s tumblers took part in the Ontario Winter Games this past weekend. It was a unique opportunity to compete as a "Team" rather then as individuals. Athletes were selected based on the results from the 1st Ontario Cup in January. With 4 athletes per team, the top 3 individual scores from each pass were counted towards the Team's finals results.

Riley Baldin was on the Gold medal winning team while Seta van der Hoop's team placed second. Jasmine Ellis' team placed fourth despite having only 3 individuals compete.

Congratulations athletes! Job well done!
